Today’s off property resort spotlight features the Gaylord Palms Resort & Convention


Center a four-star Marriott property. Located a short one and a half


miles from Disney, Gaylord is an excellent alternative to staying at a Disney owned resort.


with 1,718 guest rooms and over 500,000 square feet of meeting space (second largest in


the state of Florida ) this resort is a favorite of both vacationing families and business


executives alike. The resort offers three room types, standard rooms with 410 square feet


of living space with either two queen beds or one king. Only the rooms with an atrium


view, do not come with your own private balcony. The deluxe suite is another alternative,


with 831 square feet, a living room with a sofa and separate sleeping area. This room has


two balconies in the atrium view rooms, a favorite among guests. Dual sinks with marble


tops offer a modern touch in the room's bathroom. A favorite among convention


attendees the executive suite offers 625 feet of living space with a separate bedroom and


a sleeper sofa in the living room. A large four seat table allows for in room dining or a


place to get some work completed. Gaylord is best known for their 4 1/2-acre glass-


enclosed indoor garden atrium. This masterpiece is divided into three sections. The main


section St. Augustine features a replica of Castillo De San Marcos compete with a small


museum showcasing the treasures of a sunken Spanish Galleon from the Florida Keys in


1622. Not to be outdone a replica of the Fountain of Youth can also be found in St.


Augustine section. A family favorite Gator Springs features live alligators and turtles and if


you're lucky the staff from Gatorland comes twice a week (Tuesday & Saturday 6:39 pm)


for live feedings! Key West is the second section of the Atrium complete with a 161,000-


gallon lagoon. The lagoon is stocked with Mangrove Snapper, redfish, Snook, stingrays,


and Tarpon. Last but not least the Everglades section gives you the feel of being in the


heart of Florida’s infamous swamplands with large cypress trees, native Florida plant life,


and a wooden walkway connecting you to Sawgrass Place. Here you can see baby


alligators and many species of snakes. Moving right along on our tour the Cypress


Springs Water Park is the perfect place for non-park days or taking a break between


parks. Complete with a multi- level tree house playground, racing slides, a drop slide,


large zero entry pool, and a FlowRider surf simulator. For the travels without children and


looking for an alternative, Gaylord has a large adult only pool area with lush Palm trees


adoring the borders. The perfect place for a poolside drink, relax in one of two hot tubs


in the adult area. If that’s not enough Gaylord offers 9 award winning restaurants on site ,


including the casual Wreckers Sports Bar, the perfect spot to catch a game on one of


their large screens Tv’s. Looking for more of an upscale experience Old Hickory


Steakhouse serves up prime cuts of meat seven days a week. Moor open


for lunch and dinner is the perfect spot for seafood favorites, located in the atrium Moor is


one of the most popular dining choices at Gaylord. Mediterranean, Caribbean, and


American fare give plenty of options to Guests and visitors alike. Gaylord is more of a


destination in of itself than a typical Orlando resort. This Marriott property goes all out for


the holidays with jaw dropping holiday scenes throughout the resort. Ice a holiday


inspired show will be returning to delight audiences for another year as well. Start
